The 10th Luxor Arab Poetry Festival, hosted by the Sharjah Department of Culture, concluded successfully, guided by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. The event illuminated the literary and cultural wealth of the Arab region, marking a significant moment in the “Diwan of the Arabs.”
The festival wrapped up its activities in the open-air theatre at Luxor Temple Square, attracting notable attendees such as Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Mohy Hamza, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Luxor University; and a large community of poetry aficionados.
In collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the four-day festival featured over 140 poets and creatives from Egypt, showcasing a diverse range of poetic expressions centered on humanistic, national, and emotional themes, thereby enhancing cultural exchanges between nations.
During his closing remarks, Dr. Ahmed Mohy Hamza commended Sharjah’s cultural initiatives, notably the Poetry Houses, which he termed “landmarks” for nurturing artistic talent. He underlined the significance of the long-standing partnership with Luxor University in fostering young artists and building cultural bridges.
The final day commenced with Al Owais and Al Qaseer inaugurating a visual arts exhibit at Luxor University, featuring over 70 artworks by various contributors, including students from the Fine Arts Faculty. The pieces spanned multiple mediums, celebrating innovative concepts and artistic skills.
Following a tour of the exhibit, which allowed Al Owais, Al Qaseer, and Dr. Hamza to engage with the artists’ methodologies, the event honored several students for their accomplishments in a visual arts competition, spotlighting excellence in both creativity and craftsmanship.
Subsequently, a poetry evening took place at Luxor University, where poets delivered verses reflecting cultural and emotional themes, reinforcing the spirit of dialogue and celebrating the literary prowess within the Arab world, thus marking a triumphant end to the 10th Luxor Arab Poetry Festival.
