Eutelsat, the leading French satellite operator, is preparing for a significant leadership transition in its finance division. Sébastien Rouge, the current head of finance at minerals giant Imerys and former CFO of semiconductor materials firm Soitec, has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer. He will officially assume the role in February 2026.
Rouge steps into the position as Christophe Caudrelier, who has held the CFO role for the past three years, steps down. During Caudrelier’s tenure, Eutelsat navigated a challenging period marked by industry competition, technological upgrades, and evolving market demands in satellite communications. His departure marks a new chapter for the company’s financial strategy.
With a strong background in corporate finance and operational management, Rouge brings expertise from diverse sectors including minerals and semiconductors, sectors known for complex global operations and investment-intensive growth. Analysts note that his experience may provide fresh perspective on optimizing Eutelsat’s capital structure and funding new satellite projects.
The move comes at a time when the satellite industry is experiencing rapid evolution, driven by high-demand data services, digital infrastructure expansion, and increased competition from emerging space players. Eutelsat’s choice reflects a focus on strategic financial leadership to sustain its growth trajectory while managing operational risks.
Industry observers suggest that Rouge’s appointment could signal a more agile approach to financial planning, balancing cost efficiency with investment in innovation. His track record of navigating finance in dynamic sectors positions him well to lead Eutelsat through the next phase of its development.
