Dubai: Football is once again on the edge of a blockbuster twist, with the Saudi Pro League preparing an extraordinary $200 million package to sign Mohamed Salah— a deal that would make the Egyptian icon the most expensive player in football history. The timing is explosive, coming just as tensions between Salah and Liverpool publicly escalate.
The report, first highlighted by Team Talk, suggests the proposed move may not wait until summer, with insiders claiming January is now a realistic window. The Saudi League is said to be ready to revive its record-breaking offer, originally tabled before Salah extended his Liverpool contract.
The package being prepared goes far beyond salary. Along with a staggering £150 million annual pay, Salah would receive an official role as a Saudi tourism ambassador, future partial ownership in a Pro League club, and institutional support for his football-related investments across the Arab region. The scale of the proposal signals Saudi Arabia’s intent to redefine global transfer standards—and secure its biggest football face yet.
While the offer alone raises eyebrows, the situation inside Liverpool has added dramatic momentum. Salah was benched for the third consecutive match against Leeds, an omission that pushed his frustration into the open. After the draw at Elland Road, he expressed rare public anger, saying the club had made him a scapegoat for its poor start to the season.
“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame,” Salah said, without naming anyone directly. His comments have sent shockwaves across fan circles and reopened debates about his future at Anfield.
Until recently, the expectation was that the Saudi proposal might return closer to 2026. But the sudden strain in player–club relations may fast-track everything. With the January window nearing, the football world is watching closely—because if negotiations move forward, this could become one of the most dramatic and historic transfers of the modern era.
