One of the teams from Group B will have to travel back to Pakistan to play against New Zealand in the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy.
The schedule for the semi-finals has made things complicated. The matches will take place in two different countries. Because of this, both teams that qualify from Group B—most likely South Africa and Australia—will have to fly to the UAE on Saturday.
An official from the ICC explained that this decision was made to give the team playing in Dubai on March 4 more time to prepare. But this also means that one team will have to leave Pakistan for Dubai and then return to Pakistan the next day. While the Lahore semi-final is on March 5, the schedule has forced one team to travel and practice at a venue they don’t even need to be at.

Australia has already left for Dubai after their match against Afghanistan in Lahore was abandoned. South Africa, if they qualify as expected, will leave Karachi for Dubai once their game against England ends.
If Afghanistan somehow manages to qualify instead of South Africa, they too will leave for Dubai as soon as possible.
The exact match-ups and locations of the two semi-finals will only be confirmed after India and New Zealand face off in the last group game on Sunday. India will play their semi-final in Dubai no matter their group position. This means the two teams from Group B will only find out where they will play their match after India has played against New Zealand.
This situation was bound to happen because India is playing all its matches outside Pakistan. Even though Pakistan is officially hosting the tournament, India refused to play there. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spent months trying to convince India to come to Pakistan, even offering to host all their matches in Lahore. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the Indian government did not allow the team to play in Lahore due to political tensions between the two countries.
The uncertainty will continue until the final. If India wins their semi-final, the final will be held in Dubai. But if they lose, the final will take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
