Mattel is reintroducing the adored Masters of the Universe action figures with a vibrant new toy line connected to its forthcoming live-action movie. This exciting initiative follows the remarkable success of Mattel's 2023 blockbuster Barbie, which amassed over $1.4 billion worldwide and secured an Academy Award.
The company is eager to rejuvenate its legendary brands, with more than a dozen films currently on the docket. Inspired by the excitement generated from the Masters of the Universe movie teaser—having garnered over 30 million views online—Mattel seizes this opportune moment to bring back this cherished franchise.
Initially a monumental success in the 1980s, the Masters of the Universe toy line remains a classic cherished by fans. According to Mattel’s chief global brand officer, this relaunch is strategically timed to honor the brand’s legacy meaningfully.
The anticipated film will be directed by Oscar nominee Travis Knight, featuring Nicholas Galitzine as the iconic He-Man. The ensemble cast includes notable stars such as Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, and Camila Mendes.
The refreshed action figures, highlighting beloved characters like He-Man, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn, will make their global debut in April. Retailing at around $25, these toys are poised to launch approximately two months prior to the film’s premiere, allowing fans to revisit the excitement of this classic realm.
