Aditya Dhar’s high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh, has emerged as the undisputed box office champion of 2025. Released on December 5, the film has not only dominated theatres across India and overseas markets but has now officially crossed the coveted Rs 1000 crore milestone, sealing its status as the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood release.

What makes Dhurandhar’s run remarkable is its sheer consistency. Even in its third week, when most big-ticket releases show visible fatigue, the film continued to draw packed houses and deliver formidable daily collections. The Christmas holiday period proved especially lucrative, with the film registering a massive Rs 28.60 crore on the festival day alone, underlining its strong word-of-mouth and repeat value.

Strong Week-on-Week Performance

Dhurandhar opened to an impressive Rs 218 crore in its first week, setting the tone for what was to follow. The momentum only intensified in week two, which added Rs 261.5 crore to its tally. While expectations suggested a slowdown in week three, the film defied trends yet again, collecting Rs 160.70 crore between days 15 and 20. These numbers comfortably pushed the spy thriller into the elite Rs 1000 crore club within three weeks of release.

In comparison, its closest Christmas-season competitor, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, opened to a modest Rs 7.25 crore net on its first day in India. The contrast in box office trajectories highlights just how dominant Dhurandhar’s theatrical run has been.

A Ranveer Singh Resurgence

Beyond the numbers, Dhurandhar has also sparked a wave of discussion across social media and trade circles. Fans and critics alike are calling it a “Ranveer renaissance,” comparing his intensity and screen presence to his acclaimed performances in Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. Singh’s portrayal has been widely credited as the film’s emotional and dramatic anchor, helping it connect strongly with audiences.

The supporting cast has also played a crucial role in the film’s success. Akshaye Khanna, in particular, has drawn attention for a surprise dance sequence set to Flipperachi’s FA9LA, which quickly went viral online. The performance has added another high point to an already successful year for the actor, following his well-received role in Chaava.

Outshining the Competition

With its current total, Dhurandhar has officially overtaken Kantara Chapter 1, cementing its position as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. Trade analysts point to a potent mix of scale, strong storytelling, and star power as the key drivers behind the film’s extraordinary performance.

Bold in vision and relentless in its box office march, Dhurandhar has set a new benchmark for Bollywood blockbusters. And the journey is far from over. The makers have already confirmed that the second installment is scheduled for a March 2026 theatrical release, promising even more action, drama, and box office fireworks.
