The State of Qatar and the United States have taken a major step forward in their strategic partnership by signing the “Pax Silica” Declaration, a landmark agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in advanced technologies and securing global supply chains critical to the modern economy.
The declaration was signed on behalf of Qatar by the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, and on behalf of the United States by the US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, Jacob Helberg, according to the Qatar News Agency.
The agreement reflects a shared commitment by both countries to build secure, reliable, and resilient technology supply chains, protect critical resources, and ensure the long-term sustainability of global supply networks. It also underscores the growing importance of trusted international partnerships at a time when the world economy is becoming increasingly dependent on advanced technologies.
Qatar’s accession to the Pax Silica initiative aligns closely with its national development priorities, particularly its ambition to establish itself as a regional and global hub for advanced technologies and artificial intelligence. The move supports the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030, which focus on building a competitive, diversified, and sustainable digital economy.
Officials described the declaration as a significant addition to the strong trajectory of Qatar-US relations. It highlights Qatar’s expanding role as a trusted partner in global technology alliances and as an active contributor to building a more stable and sustainable economic and technological environment.
Through its participation in the initiative, Qatar is expected to broaden its international partnerships in key fields such as semiconductors, advanced computing, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. These efforts will help enhance the country’s technological capabilities while supporting economic diversification and long-term growth.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed said the declaration marks a new milestone in the Qatar-US partnership, which is built on trust, shared interests, and a common vision for stability and prosperity. He noted that Qatar is proud to be part of leading international efforts focused on strengthening secure and reliable supply chains in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies.
He added that the world is undergoing a deep transformation driven by rapid technological progress, the rise of artificial intelligence, and growing demand for energy and critical minerals. In this context, he stressed that success in the coming years will depend on close international cooperation to strengthen technological ecosystems and deepen partnerships based on trust and shared responsibility.
The Pax Silica Declaration is expected to further cement Qatar’s position as a key player in the global technology landscape and reinforce the strategic economic partnership between Doha and Washington in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven world.
