Pakistan secured a thrilling 11-run victory over Bangladesh in a high-stakes Super Fours clash on Thursday, booking their spot in the Asia Cup final against arch-rivals India on Sunday.
Put in to bat, Pakistan posted a modest total of 135-8, recovering from a shaky start of 46-4. Lower-order contributions from Shaheen Afridi (19), Mohammad Haris (31), and Mohammad Nawaz (25) helped Pakistan cross the 125-mark, giving their bowlers a defendable target.
Shaheen Afridi (3-17) and Haris Rauf (3-33) led Pakistan’s spirited bowling attack, restricting Bangladesh to 124-9. Bangladesh started well but faltered after losing early wickets, with Afridi claiming key dismissals including Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hossain, who top-scored for Bangladesh with 30 runs.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha praised his team’s resilience, saying, “If we can win these kinds of games, then we must be a special team. I knew if we bowl like that, we can create pressure. In a game like this, when it’s almost a semi-final, creating pressure up front makes it hard to chase.”
Earlier, Bangladesh had made five runs from the first 10 balls, losing two key wickets. Taskin Ahmed (3-28) removed Sahibzada Farhan in the opening over, while Mahedi Hasan dismissed Saim Ayub for his fourth duck of the tournament. Bangladesh briefly looked poised but crumbled under Pakistan’s disciplined bowling.
With this win, Pakistan will face India in Sunday’s final, seeking to claim the Asia Cup title after two defeats to the same opponents earlier in the tournament.
Pakistan will now prepare to take on India in a highly anticipated Asia Cup final, aiming to avenge their earlier losses in the tournament.
