In Providence, Rhode Island, the search for the gunman responsible for the tragic shooting at Brown University, which resulted in the deaths of two students, continues into its fourth day. The community is on high alert as authorities seek to identify the suspect.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Providence Police shared video footage from local cameras depicting an individual in dark clothing and a face mask, who is thought to be the attacker. Officials are hopeful that someone in the community may recognize the suspect based on identifying features.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha expressed confidence that the person in the footage is indeed the shooter, although the motive for the attack remains unclear. Over 200 tips have been submitted to authorities, who are examining them closely.

The violent incident took place in an unlocked building for engineering and physics, as exams were being held. The assailant used a 9mm firearm inside a classroom before fleeing. The attack claimed the lives of two students and left eight others injured, with seven requiring hospitalization, including one in critical condition.

With nearly 11,000 students enrolled, Brown University has intensified its security measures following the incident. The campus safety staff has doubled, and access to buildings has been restricted. Many students have left town after the university suspended classes and exams for the week.

Residents in the College Hill area are remaining vigilant, locking their doors while police conduct inquiries for additional camera evidence. Some families are keeping children at home for safety reasons. Although public schools in Providence are open, after-school activities have been suspended.

The victims of the shooting were identified as 19-year-old Ella Cook from Mountain Brook, Alabama, and 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov from Virginia. Cook was active in the College Republicans and known for her leadership skills at the university, while Umurzokov was remembered fondly by his family for his kind spirit and ambition to become a neurosurgeon.

Authorities are calling on the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying the gunman. Mayor Brett Smiley reassured the community that there are no further credible threats, yet the search is ongoing.
