MUSCAT, Sultanate of Oman, Feb. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In a major step supporting Oman’s national digital transformation agenda and the development of a strong digital economy, Omantel has officially launched Otech, a unified future technologies company designed to enable digital transformation and strengthen Oman’s digital sovereignty.
The launch, announced on Wednesday, 11 February, was accompanied by the signing of several strategic partnerships, underscoring Otech’s ambition to build a broad and integrated ecosystem capable of delivering advanced ICT services at national and regional levels.
The ceremony took place at the Royal Opera House Muscat under the patronage of H.E. Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al-Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, and was attended by senior representatives from government entities, private sector leaders, and specialists in technology and digital transformation.
A Strategic Shift from Telecom to Integrated Technology Provider
H.E. Mulham bin Bashir Al-Jarf, Deputy President of the Oman Investment Authority for Investment and Chairman of Omantel’s Board, stated that the launch of Otech represents a strategic milestone that strengthens Omantel’s transformation into a fully integrated digital technology company.
He emphasised that Omantel’s evolution reflects a deliberate shift from being a traditional telecommunications operator into a modern technology model that supports innovation and drives the digital economy.
This transformation aligns directly with Oman Vision 2040 and the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, particularly in advancing the digital economy and accelerating the growth of knowledge-based and technology-driven sectors.
Al-Jarf noted that Omantel’s long-term strategy is built around an integrated technology ecosystem that focuses on:
Upgrading national digital infrastructure
Expanding digital and cloud solutions
Developing new business models
Strengthening cross-sector collaboration
Creating sustainable value for Oman’s economy
He also highlighted that the Omani citizen remains central to Omantel’s vision, with strong focus on training and developing national talent in critical areas such as digital solutions, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence—fields that are rapidly expanding globally.
Otech: A New Phase for Innovation and Competitiveness
Eng. Aladdin bin Abdullah Baitfadhil, Chief Executive Officer of Omantel and Chairman of Otech, described the launch as a qualitative transformation for both Omantel and Oman’s digital sector.
He explained that Otech is designed to establish a unified technology ecosystem that supports innovation, competitiveness, and economic diversification—consistent with national priorities to build a knowledge- and technology-based economy.
He added that Otech will play a key role in enabling the digital economy, which is one of the main pillars of Oman Vision 2040, and will help reinforce Oman’s position as a regional hub for telecommunications and technology.
According to Baitfadhil, Otech will also enable stakeholders to adopt and develop technologies with confidence by providing long-term resilience, readiness, and reliable technology environments that meet future requirements.
Strengthening Digital Infrastructure Through Oman Data Park Integration
Eng. Maqbool bin Salem Al-Wuhaibi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Otech, stated that the integration of Oman Data Park into the Otech ecosystem represents a major advancement in the country’s digital infrastructure.
He noted that Otech will utilise Oman Data Park’s experience in operating data centres and sovereign cloud services to support both government and private sector institutions. This integration will accelerate digital transformation, strengthen data localisation, and provide advanced cloud environments aligned with current and future operational needs.

This includes developing specialised technical career pathways and continuous training programmes that prepare the national workforce to lead future technology initiatives and digital transformation projects, supporting Oman’s readiness for the evolving digital economy.
A Single Trusted Platform for ICT Solutions

Digital Sovereignty and the Launch of the “Farq” Data Centre
A key component of Otech’s strategy is strengthening Oman’s digital sovereignty through advanced national infrastructure.
As part of this initiative, Otech launched the “Farq” Data Centre, a major pillar within its ecosystem. The data centre is designed to deliver a secure, scalable, and resilient digital environment capable of supporting vital sectors and mission-critical operations around the clock.
This enhances the resilience, sustainability, and reliability of Oman’s national digital infrastructure.
Leading Sovereign Cloud Capabilities in the Region
Otech now operates the most diverse cloud ecosystem in Oman and has achieved a significant regional milestone by becoming the first company in the Middle East to obtain Amazon Web Services accreditation to deliver sovereign cloud services.
Its cloud platform enables flexible workload management across multiple cloud environments, including public, hybrid, and hyperscaler clouds. This capability is supported by strategic partnerships with leading global technology providers such as:
