Chernihiv, Ukraine – Amid airstrikes and power outages, Nova Post, a leading private postal service, tirelessly delivers parcels nationwide. On a typical November day in Chernihiv, sirens compelled workers and clients to seek refuge in a concrete bunker. Moments later, they resumed sorting deliveries, embodying the resilience that has characterized the company through almost four years of conflict.
Following Russia’s invasion, Nova Post has adapted to missile threats, disrupted transport routes, and power shortages. In spite of these hurdles, the firm now handles over 1.5 million packages daily, fostering connections between individuals and businesses throughout Ukraine. Its operations have extended to 16 European nations, with plans for additional growth by 2026.
Established in 2001, Nova Post revolutionized Ukraine’s postal sector by providing swift one- to two-day deliveries, challenging the state-owned Ukrposhta. Throughout the war, it has emerged as a crucial link, facilitating communication from western Ukraine to conflicted frontlines and assisting Ukrainian refugees across Europe.
Operating a business in wartime has come at a steep price. The company has mourned the loss of 249 employees, comprising both military personnel and civilians caught in Russian assaults. Financial losses since the invasion began are estimated at around 4 billion hryvnias ($97 million), factoring in destroyed packages and damaged facilities. Nevertheless, Nova Post continues its operations in frontline areas, often standing as the last major business in war zones.
Innovative measures ensure the firm maintains seamless service. Extensive sorting centers and outlets are equipped with generators and Starlink internet, enabling them to function through blackouts. Customers frequently visit locations to recharge their devices or gain access to electric power.
With approximately 30,000 employees, the company has expanded its network to nearly 33,000 automated parcel machines and 15,000 branches by 2025. In the first three quarters of 2025, net profits surged by 35%, reaching 2.88 billion hryvnias ($67 million), illustrating remarkable growth despite adversities.
Looking beyond borders, Nova Post is increasing its outreach internationally, enhancing parcel deliveries to Europe, the United States, China, and more. It stands as a symbol of resilience and innovation in a war-stricken economy.
As the festive season nears, Nova Post has launched decorative packaging inspired by traditional Ukrainian art, Vytynanka, ensuring each delivery brings a touch of joy. The company illustrates that in the face of war’s challenges, creativity and resolve can connect communities, sustain businesses, and offer hope to a nation.
