His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced the allocation of a new residential area in Jabal Al Ashkel near the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled.
Speaking during a phone interview on the programme Direct Line, His Highness said the new development will include hundreds of homes for UAE citizens and will be named Al Ashkel Neighbourhood.
He confirmed that roads in the area will be fully paved and connected to Al Rafisah. The homes in this mountain area will have unique designs, different from residential buildings overlooking the sea.
The Ruler of Sharjah assured Khorfakkan residents that there is no shortage of residential land in the city, addressing concerns that housing plots in Al Harray area had been fully exhausted.
He revealed that 270 homes are currently under construction, divided into two phases. This includes 120 homes in Al Mudeife, where land plots have already been handed over to the Department of Housing.
His Highness also stated that additional plots in Al Harray, previously allocated to holders of commercial licences, have now been transferred to the municipality. Construction work on these plots is expected to take around two years.
In addition, similar housing projects are being developed in Kalba along the ring road, starting from Al Ghayl, followed by Al Saaf and Al Tareef. Construction has already begun in the Al Dahiyat residential neighbourhood, following the same regulations.
