Nahyan bin Mubarak Awards Longines Grand Prix Winner at FBMA Show Jumping

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, gave the prize to Luca Coata from Italy. Luca won the Longines Grand Prix at the 12th FBMA International Show Jumping Cup. He rode his horse, Cassirana Del Rilate, and finished the jump-off round in 41.08 seconds. In the first round, he took 74.67 seconds. He won AED 106,800 (EUR 28,200). Ramzy Al Duhaimi came second, and Constant Rene J Van Paesschen was third.

Many important guests attended the event. Sheikha Roudha bint Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, President of the UAE Equestrian Federation, were there. Other guests included Dr. Ahmed Al Qubaisi from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Talal Al Hashemi from the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, and Suhail Al Araifi from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Their presence showed how important horse riding is in the UAE.

The event was held under the care of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation. Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan also supported the event. The competition brought over 300 riders from 42 countries, with a prize pool of AED 800,000.

After his win, Luca Coata said, “I feel so happy. Ramzy Al Duhaimi did very well, and I had to try my best. My horse, Cassirana Del Rilate, was in great form. This event was amazing, and I thank the UAE Equestrian Federation for such a great event.”

Other winners included Mohammed Osama Al Zbibi, who won the CSI2 Two Phase (130cm), and Saleh Mufrej Ali Mohamed Alkarbi, who won the CSI2 Two Phases (120cm). Al Zbibi, who won three times, said, “Winning feels amazing. I thank the UAE Equestrian Federation and the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for their help. Horse riding is in my family. My father and grandfather loved this sport, and I’m so proud to continue.”

Friday was also a big day with 10 events. Young riders showed great skill. Omar Abdulaziz Almarzooqi from the UAE won the CSIYH1 5-6YO event. In the CSIYH1 7YO event, UAE riders took the top three places. Humaid Abdullah Khalifa Almheiri was first.

Lily Attwood from the UK won AED 26,700 (EUR 7,050) in the CSIU25-A event, beating riders from Uzbekistan and Poland. Ramzy Al Duhaimi of Saudi Arabia won the CSI2 Two Phases GP Qualifier, and Mabkhout Owaida Alkarbi from the UAE won the One Round with Jump Off.

The competition will finish with the FBMA National Show categories. It has been an exciting event, bringing top riders to Abu Dhabi and showing the UAE’s passion for horse riding.
