A Portal of Light: My Journey Through Color and Spirit

This Sunday, June 22nd, something beautiful is happening in my town — Sobral de Monte Agraço. The Cacofonia Art Festival is coming back, and I feel honoured to be part of it again. This festival is more than just an event — it's a moment where we, as artists and people, come together to share, feel, and connect.

As someone who lives and works in this town, I feel very close to its hills, skies, and silent spaces. This year, I’ll be showing one of my most personal works — a painting called “The Light.”

A Canvas That Speaks From Within

When you look at “The Light”, you will see a strong red background. But it’s not just red — it’s the color of life itself. For me, red means our vital force, the deep energy that moves inside us. It’s also the quietness we feel when we close our eyes and go into deep meditation. The darker shades are the stillness, and the lighter ones are the awakening — the moment when we remember who we are.

You’ll also see yellow strokes — delicate, but full of meaning. Yellow comes in like a whisper of wisdom, a light that brings balance. It’s the color that helps us move from darkness to clarity.

Together, these colors tell a story — a story of transformation, of growing from the inside, of finding light even when we feel lost.

Painting With My Soul

This painting, like many of my works, is done with acrylic on canvas. I chose a square shape on purpose — for me, it means harmony, balance, and stability. It’s like a little window, or maybe even a portal — one that invites you to stop, breathe, and feel something beyond the surface.

I didn’t paint this only to be seen. I painted it to be felt.

My Town, My Collective, My People

I’m also a proud member of CACOS — the artistic collective that started this festival. We created this space for local artists like me to share what we carry inside. Sobral de Monte Agraço is not just a town; it’s a place that inspires me every day — with its land, its skies, its silence, and its soul.
