Dubai’s Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has ordered the release of 1,518 prisoners from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments before the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The decision reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s compassion and generosity, ensuring that those who have been given a second chance can reunite with their families during this sacred time. The move also highlights his belief in forgiveness and rehabilitation, allowing prisoners to start fresh and return to society as responsible individuals.

Dubai’s Attorney General, His Excellency Chancellor Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, explained that the pardon is a humanitarian gesture that allows those released to rebuild their lives. He emphasized that this act of kindness will help many families come together to observe Ramadan in peace and unity.
To implement Sheikh Mohammed’s order, Dubai Public Prosecution and Dubai Police have already begun the necessary legal procedures to ensure a smooth and swift release of the prisoners.
This decision once again reflects the values of mercy and generosity that Dubai upholds, especially during the Holy Month, a time known for forgiveness and new beginnings.
