The Creative Media Authority (CMA) has partnered with Roots Production Studios, an Emirati-owned creative company, to boost Abu Dhabi’s media and entertainment sector. Through this three-year agreement, Roots will produce at least three major projects every year in the emirate. The company will also contribute to the local industry by hiring actors and crew members from CMA’s network, which includes 800 creative businesses and over 1,000 freelancers.

Beyond production, the partnership will focus on training young Emiratis and sharing knowledge with the creative community. Every year, four young Emirati creatives will be selected for a traineeship, and Roots will organize three industry-level workshops to help local talent develop their skills. To support these efforts, CMA will provide Roots with office space and a studio on Yas Island, where the company will run its operations, including post-production services for the wider creative community.
Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of CMA, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, saying: “Our commitment to supporting Emirati talent is reflected in this partnership with one of the country’s top production studios. Yasser Hareb and his team have always championed Emirati creatives—both on and off-screen—bringing local stories to a global audience. This collaboration will further strengthen our efforts to grow the Emirati production industry with even greater impact.”
Yasser Hareb, CEO of Roots Production Studios, also expressed his excitement about the partnership. He said, “Creativity thrives through collaboration. By building strong connections between the government and private businesses, we can ensure the long-term success of our creative industry. I have always been proud to provide a platform for Emirati talent—both in front of and behind the camera—to bring our unique stories to the world, and I will continue to do so.”
This partnership marks a new step forward for Abu Dhabi’s creative sector, ensuring more opportunities for local talent and stronger Emirati storytelling in the years to come.
