The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has officially announced the opening of registration for its highly anticipated Summer Space Explorer Camp 2024. This camp is specially designed for young space enthusiasts aged 11 to 15, with the primary goal of igniting curiosity, fostering creativity, and cultivating a strong interest in space sciences among the youth.
The camp is scheduled to run in two separate sessions: the boys’ camp will take place from August 5-8, and the girls’ camp will follow from August 12-15. Both sessions promise an extraordinary 4-day experience filled with a variety of space-related theoretical and practical workshops, activities, and exciting sessions aimed at inspiring and educating the participants.

Throughout the camp, attendees will embark on an adventurous journey into the world of space science and exploration. They will gain insights into how robots are utilized in space for critical tasks such as exploring other planets and assisting astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Additionally, the kids will have the opportunity to engage in simple robotic activities, giving them a hands-on understanding of these fascinating technologies.
The curriculum also includes comprehensive lessons about missions to the Moon and Mars—two of the most significant areas currently being explored by scientists. Campers will explore what it takes to be an astronaut, including the rigorous training and meticulous planning involved in space missions. They will also have the chance to design their own space missions, learn about the communication methods astronauts use to stay in touch with Earth, and create space-themed art, allowing them to imagine the future of space travel.
The camp offers a perfect blend of learning and fun, meticulously designed to inspire and excite young explorers. Participants will benefit from the guidance of experienced project leaders and team members from MBRSC, who will provide a hands-on experience that goes beyond the typical classroom setting. This immersive approach will give attendees a realistic insight into the world of space exploration.
Moreover, participants will enjoy an exclusive tour of MBRSC's state-of-the-art facilities, offering a unique glimpse into the heart of space research and innovation in the UAE. This behind-the-scenes look aims to deepen their appreciation and understanding of the field.
Saud Karmustaji, Director of the Strategic Communication Department at MBRSC, emphasized the importance of the camp, stating, “The summer edition of the Space Explorer Camp aims to enhance scientific knowledge about space through fun, interactive activities that inspire students to explore new fields. The camp offers an enriching experience that sparks curiosity and brings students closer to space science. By engaging young minds in such a dynamic environment, we are developing their skills and building the foundation for the UAE’s future leaders in space science and technology.”
The Summer Space Explorer Camp 2024 is a significant component of MBRSC's broader initiative to foster an interest in space science and technology among the youth. This effort aligns with the Centre's mission to nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers, and astronauts who will be instrumental in advancing the UAE's ambitious space goals.
