Manila: The United Arab Emirates and the Philippines have reaffirmed their long-standing friendship and commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation during the second session of the UAE-Philippines Consular Committee, held in the Philippine capital, Manila.
The meeting was co-chaired by Rashed Nadhar Rahmah, Director of the Consular Services Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Anne Jalando-on Louis, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Consular Affairs at the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs. Senior officials and representatives from key departments of both governments attended the discussions, highlighting the importance both sides place on advancing mutual cooperation.
During the session, the two nations reviewed the progress made since the committee’s last meeting and discussed several areas of collaboration, including enhancing consular services, protecting citizens’ rights, and improving emergency and crisis management systems. Both delegations expressed their shared goal of making consular procedures more efficient and accessible, ensuring that citizens and residents receive timely assistance when needed.
The UAE delegation commended the strong role played by the Filipino community in the Emirates, acknowledging their contributions to the UAE’s economic and social growth. Likewise, the Philippines appreciated the UAE’s continued efforts to ensure the welfare and protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) through clear communication and supportive policies.
Discussions also covered the exchange of best practices in digital consular services, coordination during emergencies, and future plans for joint training programs that would enhance staff readiness and service quality in both countries.
The session concluded with both sides reaffirming their mutual respect, friendship, and determination to further deepen cooperation in all areas of consular affairs. The meeting not only underscored the strength of the UAE-Philippines partnership but also reflected their shared vision for a more responsive and people-centric approach to diplomacy.
