The destination advances firmly toward the future of responsible tourism through the Pledge, a manifesto shaping a tourism model rooted in sustainability, respect, and coexistence to preserve the island’s unique essence
Mallorca is embracing a future rooted in responsible tourism through “The Pledge,” a manifesto that defines a new tourism model based on sustainability, respect, and coexistence. This initiative aims to protect the island’s unique character while ensuring its natural and cultural heritage is preserved for generations to come.
Known for its stunning natural beauty—from the iconic Serra de Tramuntana to charming villages and coastal views—Mallorca offers an authentic Mediterranean experience. But beyond its scenic appeal, the island is now positioning itself as a leader in conscious tourism, deeply committed to preserving its identity and the legacy passed down through centuries.
The newly renamed Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca reflects this commitment and leads the charge in promoting a tourism model that prioritizes environmental care, cultural preservation, and community well-being. At the heart of this vision is a focus on shared responsibility, both from locals and visitors alike.

Through collaborations with the private sector and community-driven initiatives, Mallorca is building a tourism framework founded on fairness, sustainability, and a deep connection to its environment. Central to this transformation is The Pledge—a manifesto for responsible tourism that offers a practical roadmap for positive impact. It encourages mutual respect, mindful behavior, and sustainable choices to ensure Mallorca remains a destination of wonder and harmony.
This shift goes beyond ecological awareness. It is also a strategic and structural transformation powered by innovation, digital tools, and entrepreneurship. Concepts such as circular economy and digitalization are being adopted to reduce the island’s environmental footprint, improve efficiency, and prepare Mallorca for future challenges.
The Pledge reaffirms that Mallorca is a shared home—whether one stays for a few days or a lifetime. It calls on everyone to treat the island with the same care and respect we give to the things we love most. Every action—no matter how small—matters: picking up litter, recycling properly, respecting trails and marine life, conserving resources, and supporting local artisans and sustainable accommodations.
Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves fully in Mallorcan culture—taste traditional cuisine, connect with local communities, and appreciate the island with all five senses. The goal is simple: to leave nothing behind but lasting memories and to contribute to preserving Mallorca’s authentic spirit.
