Malaysia has agreed to start searching again for the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. This comes more than 10 years after the plane disappeared. The Boeing 777 was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members when it went missing on March 8, 2014, while traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The country’s transport minister, Anthony Loke, said that the company Ocean Infinity suggested a new area to search in the southern Indian Ocean. Ocean Infinity was also involved in the last search for the plane in 2018 but did not find it. If they find any significant wreckage, the company will receive $70 million, Loke said.
Loke emphasized that Malaysia's main concern is to bring closure to the families of the people on board. He hopes that this new search will help them finally find the wreckage.
In the early stages of the investigation, it was not ruled out that the plane may have been purposely taken off course. Some pieces of debris, thought to be from the plane, have been found along the coast of Africa and on islands in the Indian Ocean.
More than 150 passengers on the flight were from China. Their families have been asking for compensation from Malaysia Airlines, Boeing, Rolls-Royce (which made the engine), and Allianz insurance.
In 2018, Malaysia worked with Ocean Infinity to search for the plane in the southern Indian Ocean, offering $70 million for finding it. However, that search also ended without success.
Earlier searches were done by Malaysia, Australia, and China. They looked over a large area of the southern Indian Ocean. This area was chosen because of data from a satellite that showed automatic connections with the plane. Even after years of searching, the plane has not been found.
