Sharjah, UAE – The Arab Parliament for the Child has successfully elected its new leadership during the first session of its fourth term. The session took place on Saturday at the Sharjah Consultative Council headquarters, where members selected their President, Vice Presidents, and committee chairs.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, announced the results of the elections. He stated that Ilyas Al Ma’ani from Oman has been elected as the President, while Abdullah Boujairi from Bahrain will serve as the First Vice President. Mai Abdulaziz from Palestine has been chosen as the Second Vice President. Additionally, Rabia Abu Rumman has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Child Rights Committee, and Nasser Al-Husseini will lead the Activities Committee.

Al Barout highlighted that the General Secretariat has worked hard to provide the young parliament members with the necessary academic training and guidance. He noted that this support is important, especially as the members make their first official visit to the UAE. The parliament is now preparing for upcoming sessions, and members are encouraged to bring forward their ideas and proposals for future activities.

This election marks an important step in empowering young leaders across the Arab world, allowing them to represent children’s rights and voice their opinions on key issues.
