‘Madame Web’ wins Razzie Award for worst picture of the year

The Razzie Awards, which make fun of the worst movies and acting in Hollywood, have announced their winners. This year, Madame Web won the award for Worst Movie of the Year. The Razzies are the opposite of the Oscars and give awards to films and actors that disappointed viewers.

Netflix’s comedy Unfrosted, a movie about the cereal business, won two Razzies. Seinfeld star Jerry Seinfeld was named Worst Actor, and Amy Schumer won Worst Supporting Actress.

Two other movies, Joker: Folie à Deux and Megalopolis, also won two awards each. Joker: Folie à Deux was named Worst Prequel, Sequel, or Remake and Worst Screen Combo. Megalopolis, directed by famous filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, won Worst Director for Coppola and Worst Supporting Actor for Jon Voight.

Coppola, who made classic films like The Godfather, reacted to his Razzie award on Instagram. Instead of being upset, he laughed about it. He wrote, “I am happy to get the Razzie award for Megalopolis. It is an honor to be named Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Movie at a time when very few people take risks in filmmaking.”

He also criticized modern movies, saying, “Today, movies are judged like wrestling matches. I refuse to follow the safe rules of the film industry. Even though we have so many young, talented people, studios are afraid to make bold films that will still matter 50 years from now.”

The Razzies also have one award that celebrates improvement. The Razzie Redeemer Award is given to an actor or movie that has done better after past failures. This year, the award went to The Last Showgirl, starring Pamela Anderson.

The Razzies are voted on by over 1,100 people from different countries. Some actors take the awards as a joke, while others see them as harsh criticism. Either way, the Razzies continue to remind Hollywood that not every movie is a hit.
