Kuwait and the UAE are taking a major leap in regional space collaboration. H.H. Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, welcomed Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), and his delegation at Bayan Palace. The meeting focused on advancing cooperation in space science, technology, and research initiatives.

The discussions highlighted ways to enhance knowledge sharing between the UAE’s MBRSC and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), with an emphasis on satellite development, remote sensing, and applied space research. Both sides explored future partnerships to drive innovation, capacity building, and scientific development in the region.

The meeting included key officials, including Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority; Dr. Ameenah Farhan of KFAS; and UAE Ambassador H.E. Dr. Matar Hamed AlNeyadi.

As a cornerstone of the visit, MBRSC and KFAS signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration in space sciences, advanced research, and national capacity development. It reflects the UAE’s commitment to boosting Arab nations’ roles in space innovation, knowledge development, and scientific growth.

The MoU outlines cooperation in key areas such as space exploration, satellite technology, applied research, and remote sensing. It also supports specialised training programmes for researchers, engineers, and students, while fostering joint scientific projects to enhance sustainable development and competitiveness in the regional space sector.

Beyond formal agreements, the partnership aims to create an Arab space ecosystem grounded in knowledge exchange, human capital development, and long-term collaboration in space science and technology. For Kuwait, the MoU strengthens its ambition to build a robust scientific and research base capable of leading regional space initiatives.

KFAS has emphasised that the collaboration complements efforts to establish the Kuwait National Centre for Space Research. The Centre, developed with support from Amiri authorities and Kuwait University, will coordinate space initiatives, expand research capabilities, and prepare young Kuwaiti talent for careers in satellite science and space missions.

Through this agreement, the UAE and Kuwait are setting the stage for a stronger regional presence in space science, blending innovation, education, and research to position the Gulf as a hub for scientific excellence in the global space community.
