Korea’s ICT service exports grow 19% in first half of 2025

South Korea’s information and communication technology (ICT) service exports rose by 19 percent in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period last year, according to official data released Wednesday.

The Ministry of Science and ICT reported that ICT service exports amounted to US$6.37 billion between January and June, up from $5.81 billion a year earlier. The growth was largely driven by strong demand for game content and other digital services.

Imports during the same period also increased, reaching $4.8 billion, a rise of 12.3 percent from last year. Despite the higher imports, South Korea maintained a healthy trade surplus of $1.57 billion in the ICT service sector.

Industry experts say the steady rise in ICT exports reflects South Korea’s strength in digital innovation and global competitiveness in areas like gaming, software, and online platforms. The government has emphasized continued support for expanding digital trade to strengthen the country’s role as a leader in global ICT markets.
