Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Joins Fourth Khaled bin Mohamed Jiu-Jitsu Championship

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, participated in the fourth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship. This event, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, is taking place at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah and will run until October 13, 2024.

Sheikh Khaled attended a portion of the ongoing competitions, which feature athletes across junior, youth, senior, and master categories participating in Gi competitions. The current round of the championship is set to conclude tomorrow, Sunday.

During his visit, His Highness underscored the importance of hosting such events to cultivate future champions, attract jiu-jitsu talent, and enhance the skills of athletes across all levels. He also emphasized the UAE’s commitment to establishing itself as a premier global hub for jiu-jitsu.

In addition, Sheikh Khaled highlighted the leadership’s dedication to advancing the sport by supporting emerging national talent. This support includes providing essential resources, modern sports facilities, and expert training, as well as organizing both local and international championships and events.

His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, and President of the Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union, expressed profound gratitude to Sheikh Khaled for his steadfast support and commitment to promoting jiu-jitsu. He acknowledged that the UAE’s notable achievements in the sport stem from the vision and groundwork established by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE.

His Excellency Al Hashmi emphasized that Sheikh Khaled’s presence at the championship reflects the leadership’s broader commitment to sports and jiu-jitsu as an essential aspect of life in the UAE. He pointed out its vital role in fostering health and fitness while nurturing a generation of outstanding athletes.

He stated, “His Highness’s continued support serves as a strong motivator for all of us to pursue excellence in empowering youth and providing them with an optimal competitive environment. We are dedicated to ensuring that UAE athletes reach the highest levels on the global stage and translate the leadership’s support into concrete achievements.”

The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship comprises five rounds, with the current round following three successful events previously held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The earlier rounds attracted significant crowds and showcased intense competition across various categories, reinforcing the championship’s status as a key event in the UAE’s sporting calendar.
