Bollywood icon Dharmendra, lovingly known as Indian cinema’s “He-Man”, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89 in Mumbai. His death marks the end of an era in Hindi films, bringing to a close a remarkable career that spanned more than six decades. Generations have admired him for his powerful acting, charming personality, and memorable performances that shaped Indian cinema. But in his personal life, Dharmendra remained a simple and grounded person who found peace far away from the spotlight, at his 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala.
Dharmendra spent much of his final years at this farmhouse, surrounded by open fields, greenery and the quiet comforts of nature. It was here that he felt most at home, close to the soil and the lifestyle he had grown up with. Born in Sahnewal, Punjab, Dharmendra came from an agricultural background where farming was not a hobby or a trend—it was simply a way of living. Even after achieving unparalleled fame as a superstar, that connection to the land remained strong throughout his life.
Unlike the ultra-modern homes of many actors, Dharmendra’s farmhouse was built with a rustic charm that reflected his personality. The indoor spaces featured warm wooden interiors, stone designs and earthy tones. The sitting area was cozy and filled with large, comfortable sofas, made for conversations and time spent with loved ones. Dharmendra enjoyed having family and friends around him, and the house carried the warmth of togetherness rather than the formality of luxury.
One of the most remarkable features of the farmhouse was Dharmendra’s passion for organic farming. He grew rice, vegetables, fruits and seasonal crops on the land, tending to them himself. He often shared moments from his routine—watering plants, walking through fields, or plucking fresh mangoes with joy. These small tasks gave him great happiness and brought him peace away from the rush of city life. The property even had buffaloes, adding to the rural environment that reminded him of his childhood and kept him rooted in the values he always cherished.
The open skies, natural surroundings and slow pace of life made the Lonavala farmhouse a special place for the veteran actor. Even after becoming one of India’s biggest film stars, Dharmendra never lost his love for simplicity. His life at the farmhouse showed that real satisfaction for him came not from fame or glamour, but from nature, hard work and the connection to the land that shaped his early years.
Dharmendra, whose full name was Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, was not only a legendary actor but also a producer and politician. Known for his handsome screen presence, he became one of the most beloved and commercially successful stars in the history of Hindi cinema. With classics across genres—romance, drama, action and comedy—he earned a place in the hearts of millions. Even after many decades in the industry, he continued to work, with his next appearance set in the war drama “Ikkis” alongside Agastya Nanda.
As the world mourns his passing, his farmhouse stands as a reminder of the man behind the superstar—a person who valued the simple gifts of life, the comfort of nature and the peace of staying connected to his roots. Dharmendra may be gone, but the legacy he leaves behind, both on screen and in spirit, will continue to be celebrated for years to come.
