Prabowo Subianto Retains 78% Approval Amid Challenges

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has sustained remarkably high public approval, with 78% of citizens expressing support, even after a year marked by economic strains and student protests.

A recent survey by independent pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia revealed that only 20.8% of respondents reported dissatisfaction with his performance. Approval ratings were particularly strong for Prabowo’s anti-corruption measures, social assistance programs, and his free-meals initiative for children, which has quickly become one of his flagship policies.

However, not all aspects of his administration received praise. Prabowo’s handling of political issues scored lowest, with just 31% approval. The president has also faced criticism for expanding the military’s role in civilian governance and for setbacks in his free-meals program, which recently saw some children fall ill. Economic growth has been another challenge, with the third-quarter figure slowing to 5.04%, slightly below the government’s target of 5.2%.

Despite these obstacles, many Indonesians continue to appreciate the tangible impact of Prabowo’s social programs, particularly in reducing corruption and supporting underprivileged communities. The high approval ratings indicate a public that values concrete initiatives over political turbulence.
