In a rapidly transforming city, the Noor Riyadh festival emerges as a significant cultural beacon, positioning Riyadh prominently on the global arts stage. This festival masterfully melds local and international artistic expressions through the shared medium of light. By inviting the public to experience art in communal spaces, Riyadh seamlessly intertwines its rich heritage with a dynamic future.

Initiated in 2021 by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City alongside the Riyadh Art Program, Noor Riyadh introduces an innovative paradigm for art in public spaces. Its immersive light displays and engaging programs deepen the connection between art and daily life, making creativity accessible to all residents.

Throughout its four previous iterations, Noor Riyadh has made profound impacts on Riyadh’s artistic and urban landscape, establishing the city as a prime destination for contemporary art. With over 9.6 million visitors since its inception, the festival has transformed numerous sites into vibrant creative venues.

Spanning 68 days of artistic endeavors and nine months of exhibits, Noor Riyadh showcases over 450 light installations by 365 creators from Saudi Arabia and around the globe. This marks the festival as one of the premier platforms for light art internationally. Its diverse artistic expressions have invited visitors to explore various forms of creativity while fostering a culture of dialogue within the community.

A pivotal element of the festival’s success is its public programs. More than 6,240 cultural events have been implemented, catering to all community segments. These programs emphasize art appreciation, engaging residents, students, and enthusiasts, while promoting hands-on artistic experiences.

On a global scale, Noor Riyadh has set 16 Guinness World Records, bolstering Riyadh’s image as a renowned center for light art and innovation. The festival has welcomed countless international visitors, including curators and art experts, fostering conversations and exchanges in the field of creativity.

The upcoming fifth edition of Noor Riyadh in 2025, themed “In the Blink of an Eye,” promises to expand its outreach, highlighting art that examines movement, time, and connections, reflective of the city's swift evolution. Installations will be showcased across six key venues, linking Riyadh’s historic areas with contemporary transit routes, such as newly integrated metro stations that enhance urban living.

Within just five years, Noor Riyadh has transformed itself from a mere festival into a comprehensive artistic initiative that forges connections among residents, visitors, and the city. Each edition amplifies the spectrum of light and experience diversity, crafting shared memories and reinforcing Riyadh's identity as a city that embraces art in daily life.

Through the Riyadh Art initiative, Noor Riyadh continues to flourish as a vibrant hub for contemporary arts, marking Riyadh as a city celebrated for its creativity and illumination. Annually, the festival embodies the city’s aspirations, cultural richness, and devotion to art, ensuring Riyadh shines even brighter on a global platform.
