The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in collaboration with World Triathlon, has officially unveiled the race courses for the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series – Abu Dhabi 2026. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on March 29, 2026, at Hudayriyat Island, marking its second consecutive year at the venue.
The newly designed championship courses are fully integrated within Hudayriyat Island, offering athletes a unique and challenging racing environment. The course layout highlights the island’s growing reputation as a premier global destination for endurance sports.
The competition will kick off with the swimming segment in the Arabian Gulf, followed by an advanced cycling course. The event will conclude with a running segment set against the iconic Abu Dhabi skyline, promising a visually stunning and competitive experience.
For the 2026 edition, the Age Group programme will include Super Sprint, Sprint, and Standard distance races, open to both individual participants and relay teams. In addition, the event will feature a Junior Super Sprint race, a kids’ triathlon, and specially designed races for athletes of determination, ensuring inclusivity for participants of all ages and abilities.
Organisers have also introduced a new 2.5-kilometre family run aimed at boosting community participation. This initiative provides families with an opportunity to engage in a vibrant and festive sporting environment.
To further enhance the overall experience, improvements have been made to both cycling and running routes. These changes will bring athletes closer to spectator zones, allowing fans, friends, and families to enjoy better visibility and actively support participants throughout the race.
Hudayriyat Island continues to strengthen its position as a world-class sporting hub, supported by modern infrastructure, integrated design, and ideal racing conditions for both athletes and spectators.
His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized that returning to Hudayriyat Island allows organisers to build on past success while enhancing the race experience. He noted that the improved course design aims to create a more engaging and energetic atmosphere for both participants and spectators.
He further highlighted that major sporting events like this play a key role in promoting active lifestyles and strengthening community engagement through sports.
Registration for Age Group races is now open. Organisers are encouraging sports clubs, corporate teams, and schools to participate in the Clubs Challenge 2026, which will reward the club with the highest participation. The initiative aims to celebrate teamwork, collective training, and competitive spirit while offering exclusive benefits and recognition to outstanding groups.
