The Artificial Intelligence (AI) track of the UAE National Experts Programme has received an overwhelming response, attracting more than 1,000 applications within less than two months of its launch. Applications opened on January 29 and closed on March 24, reflecting the growing ambition among Emirati professionals to lead in the rapidly evolving AI sector.
The strong turnout highlights increasing interest from Emirati talent across diverse AI domains, including core technologies, product development, and emerging applications that support national priorities.
Candidates are being selected through a rigorous evaluation process that assesses academic excellence, professional achievements, leadership capabilities, and the ability to apply AI expertise to real-world challenges. The final list of selected participants is expected to be announced in May.
The inaugural NEP-AI cohort will commence in May 2026 and continue through December 2026. The programme is designed to deliver a comprehensive learning experience, combining advanced technical training with leadership development in artificial intelligence.
Structured across six specialised tracks and covering 25 sectors, the programme ensures that participants’ expertise aligns closely with the UAE’s strategic priorities.
Participants will benefit from a dual mentorship model. Senior leaders, including ministers, CEOs, and top government and private sector officials, will provide strategic insights and national-level perspectives. Additionally, AI technical experts will guide participants in developing their Capstone projects, offering hands-on support and industry-relevant feedback.
The programme also includes international study visits, giving participants exposure to leading global AI institutions, innovative applications, and governance frameworks tailored to their respective sectors.
Aligned with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, the initiative aims to strengthen national capabilities in advanced technologies and nurture a new generation of Emirati AI leaders.
The AI track builds on the success of the National Experts Programme, launched in 2019, which focuses on developing specialised talent across key national sectors.
