The esteemed Bollywood icon Dharmendra, who sadly passed away on November 24 in Mumbai, was celebrated in a moving tribute in Delhi on November 27, 2025. The prayer gathering, hosted by actress and politician Hema Malini, was a heartfelt event attended by her daughter Esha Deol, ex-spouse Bharat Takhtani, and daughter Ahana Deol alongside her husband Vaibhav Vohra. This somber event took place at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm.
A touching showreel directed by Anil Sharma and his creative team highlighted Dharmendra's remarkable journey through Indian cinema. The venue featured beautiful white floral decorations, and notable figures including Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Amit Shah, Kangana Ranaut, Ranjeet, and Ravi Kishan were present to pay their tributes.
Reflecting on her time with the star, Hema Malini stated, “I spent 57 wonderful years with Dharmendra ji. We collaborated on around 45 films, with about 25 becoming immense hits. We complemented each other both on-screen and off.” She also reminisced about his love for Urdu poetry and his aspirations to publish a book that would reveal more of his literary talents.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta remarked, “Dharmendra is a once-in-a-lifetime personality. His brilliance, talent, and smile will forever remain in our memories. His films and enduring legacy will continue to inspire audiences everywhere.”
