His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, visited the 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025) today. This year's edition is the biggest in the event's history, with participation from major defence companies, top military officials, and key decision-makers from around the world.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan praised the progress made by the UAE’s defence industry. He highlighted how these advancements align with the country’s leadership vision to strengthen important sectors. He stressed that a strong defence system is necessary to ensure the country's continued growth and security. His Highness also stated that having deterrent power is essential for maintaining peace and stability worldwide.

Accompanying Sheikh Hamdan on the visit were His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; His Excellency Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; and His Excellency Major General Mubarak Saeed bin Gafan Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for IDEX and NAVDEX 2025.
During the tour, Sheikh Hamdan visited various pavilions and interacted with both local and international exhibitors. One of the highlights of his visit was the Edge Group pavilion, where he was introduced to its subsidiary CARACAL, a leading company specializing in high-performance small arms. He was given insights into the latest products and technologies they are developing.
He also stopped by the pavilion of Beretta, where he learned about their latest tactical gear and precision scopes. Additionally, he visited the Kalashnikov Group’s display, which featured a variety of defence equipment, including drones, machine guns, rifles, and ammunition.
Towards the end of his tour, Sheikh Hamdan visited the pavilion of NORINCO, a well-known Chinese defence company. This year, China has a strong presence at IDEX, with 59 companies showcasing advanced defence and technology systems. At the NORINCO pavilion, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on their latest missile defence systems, which are supported by satellite technology.
IDEX is one of the world’s most important defence exhibitions, playing a crucial role in strengthening international partnerships and encouraging innovation in security and defence technologies. The event serves as a platform for countries and companies to exchange expertise, sign defence agreements, and showcase the latest advancements in military technology.
Over the years, IDEX has grown in prominence, becoming a key global event that brings together industry leaders and military experts. It plays a significant role in shaping the future of defence and security while contributing to global peace and stability.
