Mansour Al-Mansour’s Journey of Dedication

Mansour Al-Mansour is a teacher at Prince Saud bin Jalawi School in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. Over the years, he has dedicated more than 3,000 hours to volunteering and helping his community. His efforts have transformed the lives of hundreds of gifted orphans, giving them better educational opportunities. He was chosen for this prestigious award from over 5,000 nominations and applications from 89 countries.

Mansour has been teaching in low-income areas since 2001, supporting students who struggle academically, including those with disabilities and learning difficulties. He has also worked with children from families who cannot read or write. One of his notable contributions is his role in the ‘Riyali Financial Awareness Initiative,’ which helps students from low-income backgrounds learn financial skills and entrepreneurship. Through this initiative, students received interest-free loans of SAR500 to start small businesses, and within two months, some earned up to SAR1,500. One of his students now runs a business that earns a stable income of SAR1,500-2,500 every month.

A Mentor to Teachers

Mansour’s influence goes beyond the classroom. He has written more than 21 books on education, covering topics like innovative teaching methods and professional ethics. He has also provided over 300 hours of training to teachers across the Gulf region. His dedication to education earned him the title of International Ambassador for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation in Dubai. In this role, he travels across Gulf countries, sharing his expertise and training other educators.

Recognition and Praise from Global Leaders

Upon receiving the award, Mansour expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to be recognized among such inspiring teachers. Every child deserves a chance to shine, no matter their background. I will continue working to break barriers and support young minds in Saudi Arabia and beyond.”

Sunny Varkey, Founder of the Global Teacher Prize and GEMS Education, congratulated Mansour, praising his passion and dedication to changing lives through education. UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, Stefania Giannini, emphasized the importance of recognizing and investing in teachers, as they play a key role in shaping future generations and strengthening societies.

Lisa Crausby, Chief Education Officer at GEMS Education, highlighted the powerful impact teachers have on students and their communities. She applauded Mansour for his dedication to improving the lives of young people and inspiring educators worldwide.

The Global Teacher Prize

The GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize, a Varkey Foundation initiative in collaboration with UNESCO, is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of education. Since its launch, the prize has received over 100,000 applications and nominations from educators worldwide. The award recognizes teachers who bring innovative solutions to education, positively impact communities, and help students become responsible global citizens.

This year, the top 10 finalists included educators from Australia, France, the US, Argentina, India, Malaysia, Colombia, New Zealand, and Malawi. Teachers were assessed on their ability to create unique learning experiences, overcome challenges, and contribute to the growth of the teaching profession.

A Global Gathering at WGS 2025

The World Governments Summit 2025, where the award ceremony took place, brought together over 30 heads of state and government, more than 80 international and regional organizations, and 140 government delegations. The summit featured 21 global forums discussing future trends, over 200 interactive sessions with 300+ speakers, and more than 30 ministerial meetings. It also included the release of 30 strategic reports in collaboration with international knowledge partners.

By honoring Mansour Al-Mansour, the Global Teacher Prize highlights the significant role of educators in shaping a better future for students and society as a whole. His story serves as an inspiration to teachers worldwide, proving that dedication and innovation in education can change lives.
