Dubai, UAE – 02 February 2026:

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Trade Undersecretary, H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, inaugurated the London Business School (LBS) Middle East Conference 2026, emphasizing the region’s expanding influence on the global stage. The event, held in partnership with the Gulf Association, brought together senior policymakers, business leaders, and academics to examine the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) role in driving global trade, investment, and innovation.

Themed “Embracing the New Global Middle East – Paths to Growth, Innovation and Prosperity,” the conference showcased the GCC’s emergence as a hub for capital, talent, and technological advancement. Discussions highlighted the region’s resilience, sustained economic growth, and innovative approaches to long-term value creation in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Sergei Guriev, Dean of London Business School, remarked, “Diverse perspectives foster better decision-making. By embracing different viewpoints, leaders unlock innovations that benefit not only their organizations but society as a whole. Business schools play a vital role in creating environments for learning, dialogue, and collaboration across cultures and industries.”

Now in its fourth year, the LBS Middle East Conference continues its legacy of bringing together leading thinkers to explore transformative forces shaping global business. Panel discussions covered topics including leadership in a changing global order, the practical implications of artificial intelligence and innovation, the evolution of capital markets and private investment, and the growth of talent mobility and tourism across the GCC.

Notable speakers included H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Hindi, CEO of Astra Tech and BOTIM; Yasar Jarrar, Managing Partner of GOV CAMPUS; Haider Khan, CEO of Bayut and dubizzle; Ahmed Abdelaal, CEO of Mashreq; and Omnia Kelig, Group Deputy CEO of Naeem Holding for Investment. The conference was led by Dean Sergei Guriev alongside LBS faculty and included contributions from government and trade experts.

Evie Boustantzi, President of the Gulf Association at LBS, added, “The Middle East Conference is a powerful forum for bold thinkers and curious minds. This year’s event fostered dynamic exchanges, meaningful collaborations, and lasting connections, opening new possibilities as our community continues to grow.”

The LBS Middle East Conference remains a premier platform for thought leadership, addressing critical questions and creating actionable insights to guide business strategies in a transforming global economy.
