Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), visited Syria to show the GCC’s support for Syria’s unity and stability. He said that the GCC wants to help Syria bring security, growth, and peace to its people. The visit took place in Damascus, where Albudaiwi met Ahmed Al Sharaa, the head of Syria’s government.

Albudaiwi, along with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al Yahya, visited Syria as part of an agreement made during the 46th meeting of GCC foreign ministers. They recommended that Syrian officials be contacted to send a clear message of support from the GCC. This message is meant to help Syria achieve peace, stability, and development.
Albudaiwi said that the GCC will continue to help Syria in many ways, including politically, economically, and with humanitarian work. He also stressed the importance of respecting Syria’s independence and not letting other countries interfere in Syria’s matters. The GCC is also committed to fighting terrorism and extremism while supporting Syria’s cultural and religious diversity.
Albudaiwi said he hopes Syria will go through a peaceful change that will help the country grow and be stable. He said it’s important to support rebuilding Syria, ensuring civilians are safe, and ending armed groups. This, he said, is needed to help Syria’s security and stability.
Albudaiwi also encouraged all groups in Syria to come together and talk to reach a peaceful solution. He said it’s important that no foreign countries get involved in Syria’s issues.
The GCC also supports the United Nations’ work to help Syria make a political change. This includes helping refugees go back to their homes safely.
Albudaiwi condemned Israel’s attacks on Syria and called for Israel to leave the Golan Heights, a region Syria says is its land. He also disagreed with Israel’s plan to build more settlements in the area.
Finally, Albudaiwi asked for economic sanctions on Syria to be lifted. He said removing these sanctions and providing more help to Syria is important for rebuilding the country and improving life for its people.
Albudaiwi ended by saying that Syria’s security is important for the peace and stability of the whole region. He said all countries need to work together to help the Syrian people reach peace and growth.
