The Gulf region is gearing up for a historic change in cross-border travel. The much-awaited GCC Grand Tours Visa, the first unified tourist visa for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), will roll out as a trial in the final months of 2025. This step promises to make travel between all six GCC nations—UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman—easier and more affordable.
The visa is being hailed as a game-changer, particularly for millions of foreign residents in the GCC who currently need to apply for separate visas for each country.
A Seamless Digital Application Process
For the first time, residents will be able to apply for the visa entirely online through a dedicated digital platform. This streamlined approach is designed to cut through paperwork and waiting periods that have long been a hurdle for regional travel.

The trial phase, expected to begin later this year, will help authorities test the system’s security and efficiency before a full-scale rollout.
Benefits for Residents and Tourists
While GCC citizens already enjoy visa-free travel within the region, the new visa will open doors for millions of expatriates. By allowing them to move across Gulf nations on a single permit, it is expected to reduce travel costs and provide longer validity—potentially between 30 and 90 days.
This means a UAE resident from India or the Philippines, for example, could travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, or Oman without going through multiple visa processes.
Backed by Regional Cooperation
The idea for the unified visa was approved in late 2023 during a GCC ministerial meeting in Oman. The decision reflects a collective push to boost regional tourism and strengthen economic ties.
The visa will also align with the Gulf’s wider vision of making the region a global hub for leisure, culture, and business.
Preparing for Smoother Travel
Authorities across the GCC have been working to ensure the visa system meets international security and technological standards. The fully digital application and screening system is expected to speed up border procedures and make travel safer.
The UAE, in particular, has been preparing to support the increased movement of tourists. Projects like the Etihad Rail passenger network, expected to begin operations in 2026, will further improve connectivity within the country and complement the new visa.
Boost to Regional Tourism
Tourism experts say the GCC Grand Tours Visa will encourage residents and visitors to explore more destinations across the Gulf. From Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage sites to Oman’s beaches and Qatar’s modern cityscapes, the initiative could unlock new travel opportunities and drive economic growth.
By easing movement between member countries, the visa is expected to bring a new era of collaboration and cultural exchange within the Gulf.
A Milestone for the Future of Gulf Travel
As the trial launch nears, anticipation is high among residents and travel operators. The GCC Grand Tours Visa represents a significant step toward a more connected and welcoming Gulf region—one where travel is not only easier but also more enriching.
The upcoming trial in late 2025 will be closely watched as the region takes a bold step toward reshaping how millions move across its borders.
