Gambia Accuses Myanmar of Rohingya Genocide at ICJ

On Monday, Gambia presented a compelling argument at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), asserting that Myanmar has systematically targeted the Rohingya Muslim community for destruction. The allegations include violence, terror, and inhumane treatment, all of which fall under the legal definition of genocide.

During the proceedings before the UN’s highest court, Gambia maintained that Myanmar’s actions represent a calculated effort to erase the Rohingya as a unique ethnic and religious group. The legal representatives detailed a series of atrocities, including mass executions, rampant sexual violence, forced displacements, and the obliteration of entire communities.
