Billionaire Elon Musk has publicly cancelled his Netflix subscription, citing controversy surrounding the streaming platform's animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park. The show's creator, Hamish Steele, allegedly mocked the recent killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, sparking a social media firestorm.
Steele, whose show features transgender themes aimed at young audiences, came under intense scrutiny after screenshots of a post attributed to him went viral. In the alleged post, Steele criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s remarks on Kirk’s death, using strong language and referring to Kirk as a "Nazi". NDTV has not independently verified these screenshots.

Musk shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a user who stated they were cancelling Netflix over Steele’s comments and the show’s pro-trans content. Musk simply added, "Same." He also reshared posts criticizing Steele’s content, describing it as unsuitable for children and calling the creator a "groomer."
The controversy comes in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. The conservative commentator was shot during a public event at Utah Valley University on September 10. Despite emergency surgery, Kirk succumbed to his injuries. His alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested two days later. Robinson faces charges of aggravated murder and the death penalty, with his next hearing scheduled for October 30.
The online debate over Netflix intensified after Musk’s involvement, with several users indicating they might follow his lead and cancel their subscriptions. The incident highlights growing tensions over content aimed at children, political sensitivity, and the role of social media in shaping public opinion.
