DXB News Network (DNN) today announces the launch of its first in‑house satirical micro‑series, Ctrl+Alt+Wim, marking a distinctive new direction in short‑form digital entertainment. The series premieres today at 5:00 PM (Dubai Time) on the official DXB News Network YouTube channel.
Designed as a high‑concept satire experiment, Ctrl+Alt+Wim introduces a format that deliberately avoids explanation, predictability, and conventional structure. The content is intentionally abstract, absurd, and layered—inviting viewers to pause, interpret, and often rewatch.
The series stars Wim Hoste, a Belgian‑born international singer, performer, and television host with a career spanning more than 25 years across Europe and the Middle East.
Often referred to as “The Dubai Bond,” Hoste is widely recognised for his cinematic stage presence, refined crooner style, and multilingual performances in English, French, Italian, and Dutch. His career includes appearances at Expo 2020, performances for global brands such as Hilton, Visa, and DP World, and regular showcases at premium venues including Palazzo Versace, Belcanto at Dubai Opera, and Sucre DIFC.
With Ctrl+Alt+Wim, Hoste steps into an entirely different creative space—abandoning musical performance and traditional hosting to embody a restrained, deadpan screen persona. His calm, expressionless delivery becomes the anchor point for a deliberately surreal and unconventional viewing experience.
“You’ve seen Wim sing. You’ve seen him host. But you’ve never seen him completely ignore chaos with such precision,” says series creator Dr. Amrinder Singh.
Each episode runs approximately 45 seconds and is produced entirely within a single green‑screen studio, supported by layered visual effects and stylised post‑production. Wim Hoste performs all on‑screen roles himself, shifting between multiple personas without drawing attention to the transformation.
There is no guest cast, no laugh track, and no attempt to guide the audience. The series relies on contrast—between calm delivery and illogical subject matter, between structure and nonsense.
As creator Dr. Amrinder Singh explains: “This is not satire that explains itself. It’s nonsense with intent. Performance art disguised as a broadcast.”
A New Direction for Digital Storytelling
At a time when digital content is increasingly fast, loud, and disposable, Ctrl+Alt+Wim adopts the opposite approach. The series blends elements of performance theatre, visual satire, and post‑internet storytelling into a deliberately restrained format.
The objective is not instant comprehension, but engagement through curiosity. It is not designed for passive scrolling.
It is designed to be watched, questioned, and revisited.
Viewers are encouraged to subscribe to the channel for upcoming episodes and updates.
