Dubai Airports has entered the winter season with one of its strongest travel networks yet, welcoming an influx of airlines and new routes across both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).
Direct flights continue to dominate DXB, now representing 55% of passenger traffic. This seasonal surge is fueled by cooler weather, international business, entertainment events, and holiday travel, as well as the city’s appeal as a preferred residence for many global travelers.
Europe and Central Asia Lead Growth
European routes are seeing a notable uplift this winter. FlyArystan started twice-weekly flights from Aktau in Kazakhstan, while Austrian Airlines resumed five weekly services from Vienna. Leading carriers like Virgin Atlantic and British Airways have boosted capacity on key routes, signaling strong confidence from European markets.
Strong Regional Connections
South Asia and the Middle East continue to play a pivotal role. Varesh Airline launched flights from Sari, Iran, and Fly Jinnah added new services from Lahore, highlighting robust point-to-point traffic within the region. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, DXB’s second-largest country market, contributed 6.3 million passengers across DXB and DWC, with DWC alone recording a remarkable 459% growth this season.
Dubai World Central Expands Its Role
DWC is increasingly complementing DXB, offering airlines ample capacity and supporting growing demand from CIS, GCC, and European markets. Passenger numbers reached 1.1 million in the first ten months, reflecting its strategic importance in Dubai’s aviation landscape. Cargo and aircraft movements at DWC are also on the rise, signaling continued growth.
The winter schedule reflects the confidence of airlines in Dubai’s diverse travel demand, while reinforcing the city’s status as a global aviation hub. With new flights and increased connectivity, Dubai Airports are well-positioned to meet rising passenger expectations throughout the festive season.
