Dubai Municipality recently announced that it has installed 237 smart traps across the city to help control mosquitoes and other insects. This initiative is part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve public health, prevent the spread of diseases, and protect the community from insects that can carry harmful illnesses.

Mosquitoes breed more in the winter, so this timing is especially important for controlling their numbers. These traps have been carefully placed in many parts of Dubai, including residential, commercial, and industrial areas, as well as near water bodies, markets, parks, and other public places.

The smart traps play a key role in the city's Integrated Public Health Pest Management system. They help reduce the use of harmful pesticides by focusing on natural pest control. These traps also provide detailed information on mosquito activity, allowing the Municipality to monitor and control insect populations more effectively.
What makes these traps special is that they are powered by solar energy, making them environmentally friendly. They continuously monitor insect activity, providing real-time data to improve pest control and support health safety measures.

Dubai Municipality is also working on other plans to protect public health. It continues to sterilize and manage pests across the city, ensuring the safety of residents and keeping Dubai clean and healthy. The Municipality’s actions align with its goal of making Dubai a more sustainable and attractive place for everyone.

To help protect your home from mosquitoes, the Municipality has shared some useful tips. First, make sure to get rid of any standing water around your house, as this is where mosquitoes breed. Fix any leaks from taps or watering cans and remove water from coolers or air conditioners. Old containers or tyres that collect water should be thrown away. If you have pets, change their water regularly to keep it fresh. Finally, check that window screens are in good condition and make sure water tanks and drain covers are tightly sealed.

By following these steps, you can help reduce the number of mosquitoes in your area and protect your home from insect-borne diseases.
