Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the Council has announced the launch of the second edition of the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students’. This initiative, hosted under the auspices of the Dubai Media Council, aims to empower young Emirati talent to contribute significantly to the growth of the media sector.
Aligned with the strategic goals of the Dubai Media Council, the scholarship program seeks to bolster the impact of Emirati youth on the development of the media industry. It underscores the leadership’s commitment to nurturing national talent and enhancing their involvement across critical sectors.
The scholarship offers aspiring Emirati media professionals a full scholarship for enrollment at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai. This educational opportunity is designed to equip recipients with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue promising careers in the media field upon graduation.

Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, emphasized that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, have guided the Council in achieving its mission of cultivating a new generation of highly qualified Emirati media professionals. She highlighted the Council’s commitment to expanding the pool of skilled national media professionals to drive sectoral development and support broader economic growth.
"The media landscape is evolving rapidly with new technologies shaping the industry. Innovation is crucial to harnessing these advancements for enhanced content and maximum impact. Elevating academic excellence and providing new professional training opportunities will enable young media talent to play a pivotal role in advancing the sector’s development," Al Marri stated.
She added that the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students’ serves as a crucial platform for discovering and nurturing young national media talent. The initiative also positions the UAE media to leverage high-caliber professionals who can enhance industry capacity for creativity, innovation, and growth. By nurturing talent, the scholarship program aims to strengthen the media’s ability to communicate compelling narratives about the UAE's developmental journey to global audiences.
"We are committed to creating an environment that reinforces Dubai's status as a major hub for media. By attracting fresh talent to the industry and unlocking their creativity and innovation, the initiative also contributes to achieving the Council’s objective of enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai-based media," Al Marri affirmed.
Her Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted that the launch of the scholarship’s second edition is part of a series of initiatives aimed at accelerating the growth of the media sector. She underscored the UAE’s steadfast commitment to cultivating highly qualified human capital essential for catalyzing industry development and promoting growth across diverse sectors.
By identifying promising young media talent and empowering them to excel, the scholarship program provides substantial support to the Dubai Media Council’s integrated strategy for sectoral development and the enhancement of industry standards, Badri emphasized.
She added that the scholarship, initiated by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in June 2023, aims to inspire Emirati youth to pursue careers in media and increase national participation in shaping the future of the industry.
