The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly rejected allegations made by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) during a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Speaking during a formal “Right of Reply,” Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Counselor at the UAE Permanent Mission in Geneva, described the accusations as “baseless and false.” He said the Sudanese Armed Forces are attempting to shift attention away from their own responsibilities.
Al Mazrouei stated that SAF continues to avoid its fundamental duty to protect civilians and uphold their dignity. He added that the allegations against the UAE are an attempt to deflect attention from serious accusations of war crimes documented in official international reports.
According to the UAE representative, SAF has carried out systematic attacks on hospitals, markets, and educational institutions using drones. He also referred to credible evidence suggesting the use of chemical weapons.
He further highlighted reports accusing SAF of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and violence against women and girls.
Al Mazrouei also questioned the independence of the Sudanese National Committee, saying multiple reports have raised concerns about its impartiality. He claimed there is a recurring pattern of impunity involving elements of the Sudanese Armed Forces. He added that the committee’s refusal to cooperate with international investigative bodies is an attempt to avoid accountability.
In his concluding remarks, Al Mazrouei said the party accusing the UAE has lost credibility before the Council. He accused SAF of seizing power by force alongside the Rapid Support Forces, committing serious war crimes, blocking humanitarian aid access, and obstructing international peace efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Sudan.
The exchange took place amid ongoing international concern over the humanitarian crisis and conflict in Sudan.
