Dubai International Airport (DXB) has set a new milestone by welcoming 24.2 million passengers in the third quarter of 2025, marking the busiest three-month period in its 65-year journey. This achievement is a testament to a 1.9% increase compared to the previous year, showcasing Dubai’s rising status as a global aviation and tourism hotspot.
In the first three quarters of 2025, the airport reported 70.1 million passengers, a rise of 2.1% year-on-year, with a twelve-month traffic record at 93.8 million guests. Aircraft movements remained robust, recording 115,000 flights in Q3 and a total of 336,000 from January to September, depicting a year-on-year growth of 2.7%. The average number of passengers per flight stood at 213, attesting to DXB's operational effectiveness.
Improving the Passenger Journey
In response to increasing passenger traffic, Dubai Airports has unveiled a series of terminal enhancements. Terminal 3 now boasts new zones such as CB Central, CB East, and CB West, providing high-end shopping, casual dining, and entertainment options. Meanwhile, Terminal 1’s CD Central showcases panoramic views of the airfield along with modern relaxing areas and convenient access to major shops, ensuring a seamless travel journey.
Dubai World Central Development
Preparations are underway at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) to establish it as the city’s main international gateway by the early 2030s. DWC is set to become a smart and sustainable aviation hub, integrating technology and operational efficiency to enhance passenger experience and global connectivity.
Leading Markets and Destinations
India was the top source market for DXB in the first nine months, contributing 8.8 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.5M), the UK (4.6M), Pakistan (3.2M), and the USA (2.4M). Among destinations, London topped the list with 2.8 million travelers, succeeded by Riyadh (2.3M), Mumbai (1.8M), Jeddah (1.7M), and New Delhi (1.6M). Significant outbound leisure travel occurred to countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Denmark.
Operational Excellence
DXB's operational metrics remained exemplary. Over the first nine months, the airport successfully managed 63.8 million bags, indicating a 6.2% year-on-year increase, with 90% of bags being delivered within 45 minutes. The rate of mishandled baggage remained low at 0.1%. Passport control was efficient, with 99.6% of passengers processed in under 10 minutes, and nearly all travelers experienced security screening times below 5 minutes.
The performance of Dubai International Airport in Q3 2025 emphasizes not just its importance in global aviation but also reinforces Dubai’s status as a pivotal hub for tourism, trade, and investment, paving the way for the future of travel.
