The action-packed film Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, has taken the worldwide box office by storm. Within just four days, it has crossed the landmark ₹190 crore threshold globally, catching the attention of industry experts and highlighting the enduring appeal of captivating storytelling and star power.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar hit theaters last Friday, receiving a warm reception right from its opening weekend. The film demonstrated remarkable endurance, even achieving impressive numbers on its initial Monday—an essential indicator for long-term box office viability.
As reported by Jio Studios, the film amassed ₹130.80 crore net in India during its first four days. It debuted with ₹28.60 crore on opening day, followed by earnings of ₹33.10 crore on Saturday and ₹44.80 crore on Sunday. Adding to this, ₹24.30 crore were recorded on Monday, signifying robust audience engagement, even on a weekday.
Dhurandhar also made waves internationally, with trade platform Sacnilk noting approximately ₹42 crore gained from global markets, bringing its total worldwide collection to over ₹193 crore within just four days.
This achievement has propelled Dhurandhar past the total lifetime earnings of two other films released this year—Sikandar with ₹184.6 crore and Thamma, which earned ₹187.59 crore. Such rapid ascent in the box office rankings showcases the film's impressive performance.
Looking ahead, the film now aims to eclipse Raid 2, which stands at a worldwide total of ₹237.46 crore. Experts believe that since Dhurandhar has successfully navigated the critical Monday milestone, it is well-positioned to reach and potentially surpass that target soon.
A significant factor in the film's success is its impressive star cast, which includes Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi alongside Ranveer Singh. Each performer contributes to a compelling narrative, enhancing audience engagement.
Dhurandhar's storyline draws inspiration from real-life events, focusing on a covert operation in Lyari, Pakistan, aimed at dismantling a menacing crime syndicate. Ranveer Singh embodies the character Hamza Ali Mazari, aka Jaskirat Singh Rangi, delivering a performance that has captivated both fans and critics alike.
Written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, with contributions from Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film benefits from adept direction and a tightly woven screenplay that keeps audience interest high.
In an exciting development, a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2 has already been announced, scheduled for release on March 19, 2026. Given the inaugural film's early triumphs, anticipation for the sequel is at an all-time high.
Ultimately, Dhurandhar has illustrated that strategic planning, stellar performances, and a gripping narrative can create box office magic. Its early success signals that audiences are eager for content-driven action films. Should the current trajectory continue, Dhurandhar could soon be listed among the year's biggest blockbusters.
