Dhurandhar Surpasses Rs 1100 Cr But Shows Signs of Decline

Ranveer Singh's thrilling spectacle Dhurandhar has made waves at the global box office, recently crossing a remarkable Rs 1100 crore milestone. This places it prominently as one of the highest-grossing Indian films. Nonetheless, after a stunning run, the film is beginning to exhibit a slowdown, marking its least earnings on the fourth Friday post-release.

On that particular Friday, Dhurandhar pulled in Rs 9.70 crore domestically, raising its total earnings in India to Rs 794.20 crore. Cinema occupancy across the country dipped to 18 percent, with morning screenings seeing a mere 9.65 percent turnout. Meanwhile, afternoon and evening screenings drew larger crowds, registering 20.32 percent and 21.93 percent occupancy respectively.

Regionally, the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a stable 20 percent occupancy across 921 shows, indicating a solid audience engagement. In contrast, Mumbai saw a slightly lower rate at 18.33 percent within 633 shows. These figures signify a notable dip compared to the enthusiastic initial weeks, when theatres buzzed with excited viewers.

Despite this recent decline, Dhurandhar has already outstripped the lifetime earnings of blockbuster hits like Pathaan (Rs 1,069.85 crore) and Jawan (Rs 1,163.62 crore), ensuring its status as the sixth highest-grossing Indian film in history. However, it still trails behind monumental films such as KGF Chapter 2, RRR, Pushpa 2: The Rule, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Dangal that occupy the top rankings worldwide.

Interestingly, the film remains resilient against new releases, outshining titles like Tu Meri Main Tera featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, along with the Hollywood release Avatar: Ash and Fire. This enduring popularity underscores Dhurandhar's strong fan following, even weeks following its debut.

The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Ranveer Singh in the lead role, complemented by distinguished actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. Collaborative efforts by Jio Studios and B62 Studios brought Dhurandhar to cinemas on December 5.

Anticipation is building for the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, set to release on March 19 this year, promising fans more action and suspense from this premier spy thriller franchise.
