Dhurandhar has become the cinematic sensation Bollywood required in 2025. Following the initial triumph of Chhaava, this film closes the year on a high note, dominating box office earnings and social discussions. Within a mere 21 days, it has collected an impressive Rs 1006.7 crore worldwide, smashing multiple records.
On its 21st day, the film earned Rs 26 crore, eclipsing its opening day collection of Rs 28 crore, which is a remarkable achievement for the industry. In India, Dhurandhar's domestic earnings stand at Rs 668.80 crore, buoyed by a significant occupancy rate of 50% on Day 21, a marked increase from the 33.81% footfall on its first day.
Although it faced a slight drop in screens, now showing in 4,753 theaters on Day 21, Dhurandhar continues to hold strong at the box office, contending with recent releases like Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which recorded a 32.67% occupancy across 3,000 shows.
Ranveer Singh’s powerful performance has marked a notable comeback, drawing comparisons to his celebrated roles in Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. The film also revives attention for Akshaye Khanna, known for his memorable scenes and a viral dance moment, making him a sensation online. Dhurandhar has exceeded the total earnings of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, thus becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
Additionally, Dhurandhar now claims the title of the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film worldwide, surpassing Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
While lauded for its cinematic prowess, some have labeled the film as “well-made propaganda,” yet this has not hindered its box office success.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film boasts a stellar cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar is already planning an extension of its franchise, with a sequel set to release on March 19.
