Delhi gears up for Republic Day celebrations with dress rehearsals and comprehensive security measures. In preparation for the grand event, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced a temporary suspension of flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm from January 19 to January 26. During this period, the airport will witness restrictions on both scheduled and non-scheduled flights, ensuring a seamless Republic Day celebration.
The Delhi Police issued an advisory outlining traffic restrictions in central Delhi, emphasizing areas such as Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C Hexagon. These restrictions, enforced from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm on specific days, are crucial to facilitate smooth rehearsals and the main event on January 26. The Kartavya Path stretch between India Gate and Vijay Chowk will be closed for traffic during this period.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also urged passengers to plan their journeys wisely, considering potential queues at metro stations. The Republic Day celebrations, marking the 75th anniversary, are slated to take place at Kartavya Path on January 26. The ceremonial proceedings involve the arrival of the President, the unfurling of the national flag, a rendition of the national anthem, and a 21-gun salute. This year, the esteemed French President Emmanuel Macron is the chief guest, adding an international dimension to the festivities.
The core of the celebration lies in showcasing the nation's military prowess through an impressive display of missiles, tanks, and other equipment. Alongside the military parade, different states and union territories contribute to the cultural tapestry with vibrant tableaux, depicting their unique heritage and thematic elements. It's a momentous occasion that unites the nation in patriotic fervor, celebrating the diverse tapestry of India's rich cultural and historical heritage.
As the dress rehearsals unfold and security measures intensify, the capital anticipates a spectacular Republic Day celebration. The collaborative efforts of various authorities, including the airport, police, and metro services, reflect a commitment to ensuring the safety and success of the event. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed about real-time traffic updates and cooperate with the designated restrictions for a seamless and joyous celebration of India's 75th Republic Day.
