Culture, history, and identity intertwine through Arab lenses at Xposure 2025

Photography has the power to capture moments, freeze time, and tell stories that words often cannot. At Xposure 2025, the 9th edition of the International Photography Festival, one exhibition stands out among the many—it is called The Road to Xposure. Presented by the Union of Arab Photographers, this exhibition brings together powerful images that showcase the culture, history, and identity of the Arab world.

A Collection That Tells a Story

The exhibition features 108 stunning photographs, each telling a different part of the Arab world’s story. These images reflect the beauty, struggles, and strength of the region, captured through the eyes of those who have lived it.

From grand historical landmarks to everyday life, each image holds deep meaning. One such piece, Dome of the Rock by Abdallah Khader, takes viewers to Jerusalem, a city filled with history and faith. Another, Peacock Feathers by Ammar Alsayed Ahmed, highlights the delicate beauty of nature, using colors and patterns to reflect life’s complexity.

The Match by Asmaa Ghanim Alabdulla captures a thrilling moment from the AFC Asian Cup, showing the energy and passion of sports. Meanwhile, Jamal Al-Aryan by Fadhel Abdulla Almutaghawi introduces viewers to a child from the Himalayan Rayan tribe, a group whose history traces back to Alexander the Great. Another piece, Jezzine’s Imaginary Topography by Hicham Takach, reveals the breathtaking landscapes of Lebanon, where waterfalls shape the land like poetry.

Each photograph in The Road to Xposure exhibition represents a piece of the Arab world’s past, present, and future. They tell stories of culture, resilience, and identity—stories that deserve to be remembered.

An Exhibition of Dedication and Talent

This exhibition is the result of hard work and passion. A total of 338 photographers submitted 941 images, each one offering a unique perspective on Arab life and heritage. From this vast collection, 108 images were carefully selected to be featured in the annual exhibition book, and 30 of them will be displayed at Xposure 2025, in the festival’s new location at Aljada, Sharjah.

Xposure 2025 follows the theme Nothing Bigger Than a Picture, a phrase that perfectly captures the power of photography. A single photograph can challenge ideas, inspire change, and preserve history. In a fast-moving world, where moments disappear in an instant, these images serve as permanent reminders of the people, places, and emotions that define the Arab world.

The Road to Xposure is more than just an exhibition—it is a tribute to the art of photography and the voices behind the lens. It invites visitors to see the Arab world through the eyes of its people, to feel their stories, and to appreciate the beauty of a culture that continues to evolve while holding onto its roots.
