Comedian Bharti Singh made her return as the host of Laughter Chefs Season 3, showcasing her characteristic humour. However, a recent episode ignited controversy when Bharti made a joke regarding actress Ayesha Khan's height, shocking viewers and fans alike. The episode, also featuring the cast of the film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, including Warina, Ayesha, Tridha, and Parul Gulati, showcased a dance performance to the song Pahli Uddi Furrr to promote their movie. What was intended to be a light-hearted moment turned awkward when Bharti drew a comparison between Ayesha’s stature and that of comedian Krushna Abhishek.

This remark visibly unsettled Ayesha, who attempted to shield her stomach with her hand and sought support from Kapil Sharma on stage. Parul Gulati confronted Bharti directly, stating, "You shouldn't have said this." Despite the criticism, Bharti responded nonchalantly, saying, "Sorry, I am pregnant," trying to excuse her comment. Nonetheless, the encounter did not resonate well with many viewers, prompting a social media backlash.

The viral clip saw numerous users accusing Bharti of body-shaming. Many spectators highlighted the irony of Bharti, who gained popularity partly due to her own appearance, making such a statement on a national platform. Reactions on social media underscored the detrimental effects of remarks targeting physical appearance. Comments varied from calling the remark disrespectful to outright misogynistic. Fans expressed sympathy for Ayesha, observing her embarrassment during the incident. Some remarked that such comments are particularly damaging when made by public figures, as they foster body-shaming and reinforce detrimental societal norms.

This incident has prompted a broader discussion regarding comedy's limits and the responsibilities celebrities hold while engaging with guests on television. Many stressed that humour, while subjective, should never come at the expense of discrediting someone's body or causing discomfort. The condemnation directed at Bharti Singh reflects a growing audience awareness regarding sensitivity and respect in media narratives. Fans have urged comedians and television hosts to be more cautious with their words, advocating that humour should elevate rather than degrade.

Though Bharti Singh is celebrated for her quick wit and comedic flair, this incident serves as a stark reminder of how easy it is for jokes to cross boundaries. Audiences are increasingly demanding accountability from public figures for comments that may appear harmless to some but can leave a lasting negative impression on others. The discussions emerging from this episode highlight the necessity for a more thoughtful approach to comedy, where laughter does not compromise someone’s dignity or self-worth.
